It has been an incredibly busy week; Andrew Ogden (John Taylor & Co) and Kevan Borlase have been working all hours to try to get the bells ringing. This has involved such activities as drilling new bolt holes in the old cast iron frame, fixing sliders, repositioning pulley boxes and pulleys, hanging ropes and making sure that the bells would swing freely and set properly. While all this was going on at the top of the tower I was busy sorting out the ringing chamber, re-hanging some of the peal boards and clearing the floor so that ringers would have somewhere to stand.
I am thrilled to announce that we will start ringing again on Sunday 18th August to welcome everyone to the 9.15 service. Five bells will be available this week and hopefully we will be in full working order by the following Sunday.
