OK, so the decision was made - we needed to rehang the bells, What happens next? Well we started with a second and third opinion - they all said basically the same and luckily at very similar costs. Before doing much more we had to get the PCC to approve the idea, we had to clear the project with Historic England and then get the Diocesan Advisory Committee on board. Finally we needed to secure a Faculty from the Church of England, a fairly straightforward but rather slow process. And meanwhile we only had a small portion of the funds needed. The PCC were happy to support the project with the contents of the Bell Fund but beyond that, this project was going to be down to the bell ringers. We would need to raise awareness within the local community about what we were doing and try to find £45,000 (at the least).
