April 2018 - The decision was taken to re-hang the bells.
It all started with a little money in the Bell Fund that needed to be used. The idea was to get one of the bellhangers to have a look at the bells and make some recommendations about how the ring might be improved. It turned out to be a more expensive answer than we had expected - the heastocks are badly sized, the bearings are going, the bell pads are cracked - basically we needed to re-hang. Cost - £45,000; and of course, that was just the start.
